New President of Ballina Chamber of Commerce, Kevin Connolly (pictured) was wished well in his new position at the May meeting of Ballina Town Council last week. Mayor Willie Nolan said he had no doubt Ballina would go from ‘strength to strength under the stewardship of Kevin. Cllr Barry McLoughlin appealed to the Chamber president to ’make Ballina a brand’. Cllr Gerry Ginty, along with Cllr Josie Egan congratulated Mr Connolly on the position and wished him well in the role. Cllr Peter Clarke also wished the Chamber president well and also urged him to engage with local businesses and promote them to the best of his ability.
Along with expressions of congratulations the councillors also expressed their regret at the news that the position of CEO of Ballina Chamber of Commerce had been cut. Councillors spoke glowingly of former CEO Sandra Cribben for her efforts and involvement in many projects including the recent introduction of the community CCTV programme in the town. Cllr Peter Clarke wished to thank Ms Cribben for her work in the Jackie Clarke Collection and Cllr Johnny O’Malley sent best wishes to the former CEO.
