Over €400,000 of funding has been allocated to a number of harbours and piers in Mayo which will be used to carry our repairs to the infrastructure.
The funding released under the Harbours Scheme allocation from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will see €427,500 spent on four harbours in the county. The funding was welcomed by government TDs Michael Ring and Michelle Mulherin and will see €112,500 each allocated to Bundorragha pier near Louisburgh, Newport Quay and Saleen pier, Binghamstown while €90,000 has been allocated to Killala pier.
Minister of State Michael Ring welcomed the funding for these projects saying they will enhance all of these harbours.
Deputy Mulherin also welcomed the funding for Killala pier which will upgrade and improve the existing facilities.
“The funding will be used to extend the existing slipway to facilitate the expeditious launch of Irish Coast Guard craft”.
