A teenage boy is in a serious but stable condition in Mayo General Hospital following a serious assault in Westport.
At around 11pm last night (Saturday), a 17-year-old male was seriously injured when he was stabbed multiple times. The incident took place on the Railway Walk in Westport, close to the bridge the at the top of High Street. 
A number of arrests have been made, and a technical examination of the scene is under way.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, and in particular anyone in the vicinity of Railway Walk between 10.30pm and 11pm last night, to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 25555.
