Ballinrobe Musical Society’s production of ‘Evita’ got off to a flying start last weekend
Huge crowds flock to see ‘Evita’ in Ballinrobe
BALLINROBE Musical Society’s production of Evita got off to a flying start last weekend with the cast and crew receiving two standing ovations from appreciative audiences. The curtain came up on the South Mayo society’s first performance of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic in the Ballinrobe Community School auditorium last Saturday night and there was a full house at the traditional ‘Patron’s Night’ performance on Sunday. The show continues each night at 8pm until next Saturday night, February 16. “We’ve been amazed at the reaction the show has got on the opening few nights,” explained Des Treacy, Chairman, Ballinrobe Musical Society. “We’ve worked really hard over the last six months to do this magnificent story justice so we’re delighted that the crowds have come out in such great numbers and given us such a positive reaction. “Hopefully this augurs well for the rest of the week and, like every other year, the show will just be getting bigger and better every night.” “So the message is, if you haven’t got your tickets booked already, then you need to call the box office or log on to our website as soon as you can. “There has been a huge demand for tickets already and it promises to be a great week.” Tickets are available from the Lake District booking office on Glebe St (094) 9542244 or on the Society’s website, www.ballinrobemusicalsociety.com A limited number of tickets will also be on sale on the door of the Community School on each night the show takes place.
