A subcommittee has been formed in Mayo VEC to record the history of the education provider before it disbands later in the year.
The project was proposed by VEC member Clodagh Geraghty, who felt that it would be worthwhile to record the history of the organisation. A similar project was undertaken by the Labour Relations Court, and Geraghty would like ‘key people’ involved with the VEC to record the ‘richness’ of their memories of the organisation.
VEC Chairman, Cllr Jarlath Munnelly, is supportive of the effort. He believes retired principals and people who worked in the VEC offices might be delighted to write something about their time.
Ms Geraghty proposed a subcommittee to be formed to explore the proposal and after some discussion,. it was decided that along with Cllr Munnelly and Ms Geraghty, Cllr Mary Kelly and Paddy Cosgrove volunteered to sit on the subcommittee.
