Mickey Harte among the special guests for Claremorris Pink Day

TYRONE football manager Mickey Harte will be one of the guests of honour at the second Claremorris Pink Day which will be held in the town on next Saturday, April 21.
The high profile manager will address the gathering around 4.40pm and is assured of an exceptionally warm welcome when he visits the Mayo town. Last year’s inaugural event was a massive success and attracted a few thousand people to the town.
The funds raised on this occasion will be donated to Mayo Cancer Support who provide wonderful support in Rock Rose House in Castlebar to people going through cancer.
The day will be filled with fun and entertainment starting at 11am in the Square. Some of the events include a Children’s Treasure Hunt, Beavers Bouncy Castles, and local sports clubs organising events throughout the day. Mid West Radio will broadcast live from the town in the morning while Claremorris Community Radio will provide live coverage throughout the day.
The main stage will once again be located in the Square and will be the focus of attention throughout the day. Among those who will be on stage during the day are Gerry Guthrie, Matt Keane, The Sierras and Patrick Feeney. Also performing will be Lorna Jordan, Mark Griffiths and Paul Carey, Larry McHugh, John Haugh and Noel Feeney, the McDonagh Lads, Ali the Rapper and Sean Nós Dancers.
A number of other local bands and artists will also entertain the crowds. A special comedy sketch (Michael D meets the Queen) will also be performed during the afternoon. The master of ceremonies for the afternoon will be DJ Michael “Elvis” Burke.
An interactive Styling Class and Fashion parade will take place in the stylish surroundings of Maxwell’s in the afternoon. Ten ladies who have all being through cancer will show off clothes from boutiques in Claremorris.
Rita Mellett of RMI Branding will show the Top Ten steps to the perfect wardrobe and what types of clothes suit body shapes.
A Tree of Remembrance where people can place a ribbon in memory of those they have lost through cancer will be at the Square on the day. A special Mass will be commemorated for all the people later in the year.
Last year’s inaugural event was blessed with Mediterranean style weather and the organisers are hoping that the day will once again lend itself to a very special celebration in the town of Claremorris.
