A Brazilian man appeared before Castlebar District Court last week charged with assisting in the management of a brothel in Claremorris.
Joel Dantas De Souza of 1, Maystone, Dunmore appeared before Castlebar District Court last Friday. He had failed to appear at court the previous Tuesday and a bench warrant was out for his arrest.
He appeared at court on Friday, by arrangement, where Judge Mary Devins remanded him on bail to appear before Castlebar District Court on April 17 where a decision will be made on whether she has jurisdiction to deal with the matter or if it will proceed to the Circuit Court.
De Souza was before the court on two charges. The first was assisting in the management of a brothel at 10, Chapel Court, Chapel Lane, Clare, Claremorris on February 2, 2011. He was also charged in relation to having a Portuguese passport while not being a Portuguese national.
