Killala motorbike victim laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon

THE 39-year-old Killala man who lost his life in a motorbike accident last weekend will be laid to rest today (Tuesday).
Paul Gillespie, of Woodview Court in the town, died on Friday night after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a wall on the Shore Road, Killala. Mr Gillespie was taken to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, where he was pronounced dead.  Gardai have said that no other person was involved in the collision.  The incident occurred at approximately 8pm on Friday night last.  The Shore Road was closed to facilitate forensic examination until mid morning on Saturday last.
Locals were left reeling as news spread of the fatality over the weekend with scores of people paying their respects at the family home and again last night (Monday) at Lynn’s Funeral Home in the town.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated today (Tuesday) at 11am in St Patrick’s Church with the funeral proceeding to Killala Cemetery where Mr Gillespie will be brought to his final resting place.
Local gardai are continuing investigations into the incident. Anyone  who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact gardaí in Ballina on 096 20560 or via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
