Three youths rescued from Achill cliffs

THREE youths were rescued off cliffs in Achill last week by the Achill Coast Guard after a farmer noticed them stranded on the cliff edge.
The three youths who were visiting the island became stranded on the Cathedral Cliffs in Dookinella after the tide came in around them. The emergency services were notified by a local farmer who noticed the three youths - who were all under 18 - and it was feared they might try to ascend the steep cliffs.
The Coast Guard rescue boat was launched from nearby Purteen Harbour and all the youths were rescued and brought back to Purteen Harbour. None was injured.
