Fianna FΡil councillor Margaret Adams made a return to the Westport Town Council chamber after an absence of several months through illness.
The veteran councillor was welcomed back into the chamber by the Cathaoirleach Cllr Tereasa McGuire who said she was delighted to see her back. Cllr Brendan Mulroy, who was the only Fianna FΡil councillor while Cllr Adams was absent, also welcomed her saying it was not as much fun without her.
Cllr Adams thanked the councillors for their warm welcome and thanked people who sent best wishes cards which she said had helped her a lot. Cllr Adams was quickly into the swing of things in the chamber and following a bust-up between Cllr Mulroy and Cllr Christy Hyland joked that it had been much calmer before she left.
