Weight loss challenge to raise money for charity

Anyone who may have over indulged themselves on rich food and wine over the Christmas and feel a bit bloated now have a perfect motivation to lose a few pounds and at the same time raise money for charity. As part of their annual fundraiser, the Westport Bulls Rugby Club are organizing a huge Weight Loss challenge for both men and women to help fundraise for Mayo Mental Health. They want as many people as possible to sign up for a ‘Biggest Loser’ type challenge which will start this Wednesday, January 12 and run for nine weeks before finishing on March 16, just in time for St Patrick’s Day. Pat McCormack, of the Westport Bulls Club Act explained that they are asking people to take on the challenge with gusto which commences at 8pm in the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport. “We have had a great response so far with up to 25 people signed up already and a lot more still thinking of doing it. A lot of people are looking forward to it and it will be a great motivational tool to lose a few pounds after the Christmas,” he said. Sponsorship cards are available on the night and at the end of the nine weeks prizes will be given to the people who have lost the most percentage of weight. Pat explained that that people who decide to take part in the challenge will not be left to do it alone and there will be weekly weigh-ins with motivational talks and advice from professionals on the best way for each person to lose weight. The nine week weight loss competition commences tomorrow, Wednesday, January 12 in the Castlecourt Hotel at 8pm. For further details contact: Pat at 087 2412360 or Joe at 087 1341696.
