A Claremorris man was found after allegedly disappearing after a fight with his wife
Missing man left home after row
Rowan Gallagher
A NATIONWIDE appeal was made after a 33-year-old Claremorris man went missing from his home last week after he had a fight with his wife. A Garda spokesperson told The Mayo News that Ciaran Davidson of Crossmolina ‘got in a huff’ leaving his family home and didn’t make contact with his wife for a week. A press release was circulated to all national and regional media and the man’s picture was published in a number of national news papers before he was found over the weekend by a member of the public in Donegal. According to a Garda source this wasn’t the first time this person has left the family home and disappeared. The man is believed to have had a row with his wife and afterwards decided to leave the family home and avoid contacting his spouse. The man left his home on Saturday, November 27, and was found a week later when someone spotted his white Nissan Terrano van in Barnsmore Gap, Donegal. The man’s family were in a distressed state when they reported him as a missing person. Gardaí had ‘pinged’ Mr Davidson’s mobile phone to pinpoint his location and discovered he was in Letterkenny, Donegal, but couldn’t locate specifically where he was. The man then turned his phone off for 48 hours leaving the Gardaí to rely on the public for assistance. Gardaí believe that the man was unaware that he had been reported as a missing person. Gardai in Crossmolina said that they were pleased that the missing person had been found and that they were appealing to the general public on a number of other cases and to check the Garda website for the latest images and updates. Missing-person appeals can be found on www.garda.ie.
