Sudden Adult Death Syndrome verdict at inquest into death of 16-year-old Nicole Campbell from Claremorris
Sudden Death Syndrome cause of teenage death in Claremorris
A VERDICT of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome was given at the inquest into the death of 16-year-old Nicole Campbell from Barr na hAille, Claremorris, in Castlebar yesterday afternoon. The fourth year student at Mount St Michael Secondary School died suddenly while attending a birthday party of a school friend in Ballindine on February 6 of this year. Consultant Pathologist, Dr Fadel Bennani, advised the family that the problem could possibly be genetic. Nicole was daughter of Dorothy and Gordon Campbell, both natives of Co Sligo, who came to reside in Claremorris in the 1990s. Dorothy is the manager of the Curam Centre in the town while Gordon is a member of the board of Claremorris Community Radio. Ms Fionnghuala King, principal of Mount St Michael, said at the time of Nicole’s death, that the whole school was in deep shock. “This is so tragic for her family and friends. She was such a lovely young girl. The one thing the students kept referring to was her constant smile. Nicole is deeply missed by her parents, Dorothy and Gordon, her sister Clodagh, and her relatives and friends.
