Musicians tune up for ‘Trad for Trócaire’

MAYO musicians are being encouraged to tune up their instruments this week as ‘Trad for Trócaire’ kicks off on Thursday, September 23 and runs until Wednesday, September 29.
Trad for Trócaire is a week-long celebration of traditional Irish music run by Trócaire and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and is seeking Mayo musicians, venues and music fans to get trad music going in the local area while raising money for Trócaire, by organising or supporting a local seisiún. Local musicians will be holding sessions in Fitzers Bar, Knox Street, Ballyhaunis at 9pm on September 23 and Teach O’Hora Kiltimagh at 10pm on September 25. Trad for Trócaire takes place from Thursday, September 23 until Wednesday, September 29.
To find out about how to get involved in Trad for Trócaire and where your nearest session will take place visit www.trocaire.org/trad, call Trócaire on 1850 408 408 or contact your local Comhaltas branch.
