IT was celebration time in the small village of Adrigoole near Knock last Thursday when local twins Frank and John Conboy celebrated their 80th birthday. And there was no shortage of music and song to help them on their merry way. Frank and his wife Josie, who raised a family of five (Mary, Collette, Adrian, Enda and Patrick), reside in the home place, while John and his wife Nuala, who with their sons Brendan and Sean lived for many years in Birmingham, moved back to Adrigoole nine years ago. All members of both families, with the exception of Sean who was unable to make it over from England, were present in Adrigoole for the party. Behind the scenes, Josie and Nuala had been working away for weeks on planning the surprise party for the twins. And when the big day came around, it really was a huge surprise for Frank and John when so many of their friends from over the years began to arrive in the village. The party went on all day and late into the night. Joe Byrne and Michael Conboy and friends provided some fine music. The Mulloy Brothers from Mulranny had also been booked for the house party but they had to cancel the engagement because of the death of Mick Mulloy. On Saturday evening, both families enjoyed a lovely meal in Knock House Hotel as the celebrations finally began to wind down. All in all, a very memorable few days for the Conboy twins and families from Adrigoole.
