The 16 Mayo candidates: Profiles on all General Election contestants

ELECTION CHANCES: It had been rumoured for months that Fine Gael were trying to get Jennings to run in the General Election, but it still was somewhat of a surprise when the Mayo Roscommon Hospice CEO confirmed she was running. Having expelled former councillor Patsy O'Brien from the party, there was no way Fine Gael were going to let the Independent councillor have a free run in south Mayo. However, Jennings will see herself as much more than a spoiler and the former Mayo Person of the Year will be looking to capitalise on her high profile to get votes, not just in south Mayo, but across the county. She will need to be ahead of O'Brien on the first count to have a chance of a seat.
