Mayo star Padraig O'Hora has scaled many summits in his glittering GAA career.

Whether it be hoisting the Nestor Cup aloft in the green and red of Mayo, or his trio of Moclair Cup successes in the green and red of Ballina Stephenites, his successes within the four lines have been plentiful.

However, in April, the tigrish defender is set to conquer a peak that few from this neck of the woods have even considered.

This year, O'Hora will set his sights on one of the most gruelling tasks of all, as he endeavours to climb Mount Everest.

He will be partnering with the Mayo Mental Health Association, a group who endeavour to promote positive mental health in the county, in order raise funds on his journey.

O'Hora, who has very close ties to the Association, spoke on why the partnership means so much to him.

“Climbing Everest is not about reaching the summit alone; it’s about what the journey represents," he stated. "Mental health struggles can feel overwhelming, isolating, and relentless.

"This expedition mirrors that reality: taking one step at a time, asking for support, and refusing to give up, even when the odds feel stacked against you. I’m incredibly proud to be supporting Mayo Mental Health Association.

"This is something we should all be proud of, and I hope that through attempting this task it will further shine a light on the importance of making mental health and wellbeing part of all of our lives.”
