Stats and facts: Three things we learned from Mayo's win over Dublin

No overreliance on two-pointers

Much has been said lately about the two-point shot finally arriving in Mayo.

Prior to the Dublin match, Mayo had scored 17 long-range efforts in all four matches, FBD League included.

Robbie Hennelly's return has helped in that regard, as the netminder is responsible for scoring five two-point frees so far, and two '45 scores as well, all while he sat out the FBD Final against Galway in Tuam.

But against Dublin, Mayo showed that they're willing to be opportunistic in kicking from beyond the arc.

Moran's sharp-shooters actually only tried five long-range shots, making two of them.

It seemed, once Mayo had established a lead and were a man up, they fancied their chances further inside, as the home team only had one attempt for two points in the entire second half.

Why try the difficult shot when you can get an easier, less high percentage one? Especially if the overall efficiency was a bit off in the first half.

On a side note, it was notable on Sunday that Dublin didn't concede any free from close outside the two point arc. Was that a conscious reaction to Mayo's newly acquired proficiency from that position?
