MAYO V DUBLIN - Offbeat first half thoughts

ANDY AND COLM NEED CAPS

THE Mayo manager and selector had their hands to their heads for long periods of the first half trying to deflect the bright sunshine.

MAN AND BALL

ROBBIE Hennelly was brave under the high ball in the opening half. After eight minutes he laid down a marker. Paddy Samll's point effort dropped in the goalmouth and the Breaffy native advanced, claimed it and ran through Cormac Costello as well. No messing there.

BLOCKS

Numerous men threw their bodies in the line of fire. Ryan O'Donoghue did so brilliantly after 15 minutes in his own half when he dived on the boot of Dublin midfielder Ethan Dunne.

LITTLE PATIENCE

Ger Brennan wasted no time in running his bench with three men called ashore in the opening 35 minutes. the two midfielders, Ethan Dunne and Brian Howard, along with wing-forward Killian McGinnis were all hooked before the half-way mark.
