Former Mayo player Austin O’Malley looks set to be appointed as the Slaughtneil manager.

Gaelic Life are reporting that the Derry club will appoint O’Malley as their senior manager for the 2026 campaign.

O’Malley who is originally from Louisburgh most recently led Dublin club Cuala to All Ireland glory in early 2025 before stepping down immediately.

Slaughtneil have been one of the main contenders in Derry and Ulster in recent seasons having claimed the Derry Senior Championship in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 while their last win came in 2020. Along that journey, they conquered all of Ulster in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

In recent years, Slaughtneil have lost out to Glen in county finals (2021 and 2022), but with O’Malley set to take over, he will be looking to get back on top in one of the most competitive counties nationally.
