He might have just guided Tooreen to within inches of the All-Ireland title in Croke Park, but now Ray Larkin has to put his mind to directing Mayo's fortunes in the National Hurling League.

The Green and Red will operate in Division 2 where they will face interesting challenges at every turn.

They begin the campaign in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park on Sunday against Laois at 1pm. This will be a big test for the home side and seven days later they'll be in Ruislip taking on the might of London in the second round.

On Saturday, February 7 Larkin's men will travel to Derry to take on the home side in a match that throws in at 1pm.
After those three tough games the Mayo men will have a break until Saturday, February 28 when they will pit their wits against Meath in Castlebar.

A trip to Tralee on March 8 will be next on the agenda for a Sunday afternoon game that begins at 2pm.

The final round of the league will see Mayo back in MacHale Park to host Westmeath on Saturday, March 21 at 1pm.

The campaign won't be easy. Talented teams stand in their way and it remains to be seen how soon the Tooreen contingent will return to the Mayo group.

Larkin is well accustomed to managing through these type of challenges and the men in Green and Red are in for a very interesting league campaign.
