Angela Ruane was a well-known figure in Moy Davitts GAA Club
Mayo GAA club Moy Davitts have paid tributes to a pillar of the community, Angela Ruane, in the wake of her untimely passing after a short illness in recent days.
Angela, who was a well-known figure to all those on the banks of the Moy in Foxford and the surrounding area, served as PRO in the 1980s, as well as for a spell in the 2000s.
Her brother, Gary Ruane, represented Mayo with distinction in times gone by, captaining the Green and Red.
The Ruane family is intrinsically linked to the story of Moy Davitts. Alongside Gary, Angela's other brothers, Michael and John, served the club with distinction, while many of Angela's nieces and nephews play with the club today.
The club has requested that members form a guard of honour in club colours outside Clarke's Funeral Home in Foxford at 6.45 pm tonight (Tuesday, December 30).
Angela will rest in repose at the funeral home from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Her funeral will arrive in Saint Michael's Church, Foxford, tomorrow for funeral mass at mid-day. The funeral will proceed to Craggagh Cemetary. The funeral can be viewed online here.
Angela will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters, Michael, Maureen, John, Gráinne, Noeline, and Gary, her nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and Andy, her aunt Mairéad, her uncle Martin, her many dear cousins, neighbours, work colleagues, and many friends.
