Incoming Mayo GAA boss Andy Moran has signalled that Aidan O'Shea could play a valuable part in the story of the Green and Red for years to come.
Breaffy talisman O'Shea toiled the field as a team-mate of Moran's throughout the halcyon years of the late 2010s.
With Moran in his fifth season, a fresh-faced O'Shea replaced Trevor Mortimer to make his first ever appearance for Mayo.
Fast forward to 2026, and the dynamic is a touch different between the former fleet-footed forward partnership.
The upcoming campaign will be the 16th for Mayo's longest-serving soldier. However, per Ballaghaderreen's finest, there's plenty of gas left in the tank for 'Aido'.
"There's no hiding that Aidan is approaching, what, 100 games as an outfielder in the Championship.
"He's over the 200-game cap in total. When you have such a big character and such a big player, there's always a transition period when he's coming up on 35, 36, 37 years of age, but I think there's life left in him.
"Not only for this year, but for a year or two to come. He's keeping himself in great shape."
