THE Mayo senior football team has a new captain after Andy Moran announced that Ballyhaunis defender Jack Coyne will lead the team in 2026. The 25-year-old takes over from Castlebar Mitchels' Paddy Durcan and is well used to the leadership role having previously captained the Mayo U-20s.
Coyne was Mayo's most consistent player in 2025 and was rewarded for some top-class performances by an All-Star nomination. He will lead the team into FBD League action in the first week of January and onwards to the National League.
Moran also announced his two vice-captains for the season, Belmullet's Ryan O'Donoghue and Knockmore's Darren McHale.
