Mayo boys back in the championship race after big win

The boys from Ballyhaunis Community School had a big win in the Connacht PPS Senior B Championship.

THE boys in red and black are back in the race! That was the clear message from Ballyhaunis GAA Grounds this afternoon as the local students got their provincial campaign back on track after suffering a narrow defeat in the opening round against St Attracta's.

Today, the prospect of exiting the competition was firmly put on the back burner as a stream of classy scores powered them to a big win over the Roscommon scholars.

Adam Kelly's goal helped the home side to a 1-10 to 0-7 lead at the break, before Ballyhaunis cut loose after the resumption. Another net-shaker from Cian O'Shaughnessy and two goals from dangerous corner-forward Brian Greally had them well clear long before the finish.

The guests never gave up and always looked to do the right thing as Enda Browne, Jack Brooks, Dylan Goode and Brian Finneran carried the fight to the leaders. Browne kicked a late goal for the chasers, but with Dylan Greally, Kyle Burke, Ethan Kilbane, John Jennings, Kelly, Mark Feeney and Fionn Conlon to the fore, the Ballyhaunis boys a victory which should see them into the knock-out stages.
