Ballina Stephenites have qualified for yet another final on the back of impressive performances
Mayo Senior Football Championship: Quarter-final
Ballaghaderreen 2-10
Ballina Stephenites 1-14
In Ballaghaderreen
Ballina would escape Ballagh' by the skin of their teeth, winning by the thinnest of margins. The Stephenites survived the toughest test yet.
It was thanks to a huge performance from wing-back David Tighe, that Ballina could squeeze past Ballaghaderreen.
In fairness, the champions were seven points up with eight minutes to go. A solid lead in days of the old rules, but with the new ones, it seems no single-digit lead is ever really safe.
A late penalty for the home side, converted by top scorer Kuba Callaghan brought Ballagh' back into contention, when they brought on Andy Moran.
But Ballina kept their composure and weathered the storm.
