Mayo GAA star Fergal Boland is known for his goal-scoring exploits on the parks and pitches around the county, but last Friday (September 26), he was raising green flags in a whole other way when he popped into Knock National School.
The Aghamore footballer was present in the school on the big hill as they celebrated receiving their seventh Green Schools Flag for Global Citizenship and Energy.
The Green Flag system is designed to award schools and institutions for achieving environmental targets.
The awarding of a seventh flag to the primary school in the heart of Knock town is a significant achievement for teachers, students, and staff alike.
