Mayo GAA have announced that Keith Higgins has been selected as the new manager of the Under-20 team.
Higgins has been selected to lead the line, as well as nurturing some of the brightest young talents the county has to offer in the upcoming campaign. His backroom includes Kilmeena's Mark Ryan who has served as a selector of the U-20 side in recent years. Former Mayo players David Drake and Kevin Mc Loughlin are also on Higgins' ticket.
At a meeting of the Mayo GAA Executive and club delegates tonight (Wednesday, September 10), Higgins was ratified to fill the bainisteoir bib next year.
The Ballyhaunis man had a glittering playing career with the Green and Red, having displayed a sense of pedigree from his first campaign in 2005, and was named as Young Footballer of the Year in 2006.
Since hanging up the boots, the dual-star has set his sights on management.
In 2023, he was brought into the management team of the Under-20s by team manager Peadar Gardiner.
The following season, Mayo ended a drought by reclaiming their status as champions of Connacht.
