National reports have indicated that former Mayo GAA star Andy Moran has emerged as the frontrunner to take the reins as senior team manager for 2026.
According to The Irish Independent, the Ballaghaderreen clubman, who was in the Monaghan backroom team this year, is the leading man tipped to replace Kevin McStay for the upcoming inter-county season.
It is also been touted that Tony McEntee, who has previously been the main man in Sligo, is in the mix for the gig.
Moran is a name that needs little introduction to the Mayo faithful, as the two-time All-Star terrorised defenders up and down the country during his 15-year playing career.
Moran also cut his teeth in the inter-county management game, having previously been at the helm of Leitrim.
The wily forward recently made a return to club football with his hometown club, coming on as a substitute when Ballaghaderreen won the Division Two League final last month.
