At Monday night's county board meeting, the Executive revealed the full process which is in place to appoint the manager tasked with taking over from Kevin McStay following his departure from the helm some weeks ago.

There have been a number of tweaks to the process. Prior to this, it was only possible for clubs within the county to nominate managers. Now, it is possible for managers to be nominated by members of the executive.

There will also be a further focus on proactive talent identification in the process.

Within the coming days, the Management Appointment Committee will be put in place.

The MAC includes the County Board Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Coaching Officer, at least two other County Board members, and at least one external representative with one of those external representatives having a background in HR.

The deadline for nominations will be two weeks after the statement welcoming applications for the job. From there, when submissions are closed, an application form will be sent out to all applicants.

Each candidate will need to have three selectors included on their ticket.

Once all forms have been returned, all applicants will be reviewed by the MAC, and a shortlist will be contacted for interview.

The interview panel may include the County Board Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Coaching Officer, one member of the inter-county panel, and one external member.

Each candidate will have to prepare for a scenario-based presentation, a competency-based interview detailing coaching scenarios, and an in-depth interview discussing a host of topics, including management teams, coaching philosophies, and financial requirements.

From there, it is down to the interview panel to choose who they believe to be the best fit, and to bring their recommendations to the County Board for ratification.
