ALLIANZ HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 3 FINAL
MAYO 0-14 LONDON 18
The Mayo hurlers were crowned Division 3 champions after beating London this afternoon.
Ray Larkin’s men outlasted a last-gap Exile assault to claim the title after a tense tussle in Newbridge, Co Kildare.
A first-half goal from London’s Conor O’Carroll was a stone in Mayo’s shoe as London led 1-5 0-4 at the break.
However, Mayo began to gain a foothold in the second half thanks to points from Cormac Phillips, Shane Boland (2) and Liam Lavin before Boland put the Green and Red in front for the first time after 48 minutes.
London were hampered by some inaccurate shooting but were still in contention when Jack Morrissey sent an attempt on goal wide in the dying second of the game.
Further coverage will be carried in Tuesday’s Mayo News.
