FORMER All-Ireland Junior champions Kilmeena have appointed a new head-coach and management team. The West-Mayo men defeated Munster and Kerry champions Gneeveguilla in the 2022 decider in Croke Park and went on to win the Mayo Intermediate title in 2023. They competed in the senior championship last season but were relegated after narrow defeats in the group stages and later in the relegation play-offs.
Afterwards, John Reilly and his management team stepped away. Reilly had managed his home club for seven seasons. Now, after an exhaustive process the club have appointed Damien Egan as the new head coach. The former Bonniconlon footballer is a renowned coach having worked with a number of clubs including Garrymore, Davitts and Aghamore as well as establishing Ballinrobe Community School as one of the most competitive teams in provincial colleges football.
Egan will be assisted by former Kilmeena footballers Padraic Moore and Jonathan Madden and former Cill Chomain player Liam McDonald.
