MAYO will travel to Croke Park to take on Dublin the opening round of the Natonal League on Saturday, January 25. The meeting between the two old rivals is bound to bring a bumper crowd to the national stadium, but Mayo will be without at least two of their top players.

Team manager Kevin McStay, confirmed that his side will run out without Aidan O'Shea and Tommy Conroy for the meeting with the home side. Speaking at a press conference in Castlebar today, McStay said both men have undergone 'procedures' recently and will not be available for the opening round. Indeed, a few rounds may have been played before either are seen in action he explained.

"A few lads needed to get a few little things cleared up and they took the opportunity to do so," he added.

The Green and Red will also be without team captain Paddy Durcan who is still recovering from a knee injury suffered last season against Cavan in Castlebar.

The manager told the assembled media that Durcan is making great progress but there was no specific return-to-play date at the moment.
