FORMER Mayo footballer Sarah Rowe will play soccer in the Australian Ninja A-League after signing a short-term contract with Central Coast Mariners.
Rowe, who lined out with Bohemians and Shelbourne in the Women’s League of Ireland in the past, has played professional Australian rules football with Collingwood since 2018.
She is no stranger to soccer, however, having lined out for the Republic of Ireland Ireland at U-15, U-17, U-19 and senior level in the past. The Ballina woman has become a mainstay of the Collingwood AFLW team since signing for the Melbourne-based side.
The 29-year-old played with Melbourne Victory towards the end of the 2022-23 season and will now play with Central Coast Mariners for the rest of the 2024/2025 A-League campaign.
“I can’t wait to set foot out on this pitch and play in front of our fans. I have missed playing football, I can’t wait to put on the Yellow and Navy and play again,” Rowe said after her unveiling at Central Coast Mariners.
She featured prominently for the Mayo ladies Gaelic football team for several years but hasn’t played intercounty football since 2021.
