RUGBY is coming to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park. The Mayo News understands that the GAA has given the go-ahead for the historic event which will see the Castlebar venue host a competitive rugby match for the first time.
Connacht will host Munster in a much-anticipated inter-provincial battle on March 29 and with the Dexcom Stadium currently under reconstruction, the Castlebar stadium was seen as an ideal venue.
Negotiations between the GAA and Connacht Rugby have been taking place over the past few weeks and The Mayo News understands they have reached a positive conclusion.
Neither side were in a position to confirm the news yesterday evening (Monday, December 2).
