Cillian O’Connor has opted out of the Mayo senior panel for 2025.
A source close to O’Connor told The Mayo News this evening that the 32-year-old had not officially retired but was ‘taking a breather’ from his commitments to the Mayo senior team.
In recent years, the Ballintubber man has been playing for Mayo while commuting to and from Dublin where he runs his own recruitment company.
He is the highest scorer in the history of the All-Ireland senior championship and has scored 46-533 for Mayo since making his senior debut in 2011.
The Mayo News understands that the Mayo senior players have already began individual training and are due to return to collective training shortly.
