WESTPORT GAA have announced that Martin Connolly, who guided them to their first and only senior county title, has stepped down as their senior team manager.

The club confirmed that Connolly and his management team of Shane Conway (head coach), Pat Grady and Kieran Geraghty (selectors) have stepped down.

After taking over the late 2021, Connolly guided Westport to a Mayo senior county title in his first season in charge.

He also guided the West Mayo side to their first Division 1 senior league title in 49 years when they defeated Castlebar Mitchels in the final earlier this summer.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Westport GAA described their 2022 county title as ‘a breakthrough moment for the club that will live long in the memory’.

“On behalf of the club we wish to sincerely thank them and acknowledge their incredible contribution to Westport GAA over the last number of seasons,” the club said in a social media post.
