Changes are set to be made to the Mayo senior football team’s management team.
Last night’s Mayo GAA county board has been told there will be changes made to Kevin McStay’s backroom team in the areas of strength and conditioning and performance psychology for 2025.
This comes following the completion of the annual review of Mayo’s 2024 season, the length of which was criticised by delegates at the September county board meeting.
The county board meeting heard that a survey was sent out to all players which would form the basis of their performance plan for the 2025 season.
Senior county board officials and the Mayo senior management were then briefed on the survey results by the performance officer who carried out the review.
“The main areas of focus that came up with team management to the senior officers ranged from pre-season preparation, the S&C [strength and conditioning] programme designed in 2025, our coaching strategy and our performance preparation and injury prevention,” Mayo GAA Chairman, Séamus Tuohy, told the October county board meeting.
All players and management subsequently held a workshop on October 1 in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, where all aspects of the survey were discussed.
County board officials will meet with Kevin McStay today (Friday, October 11) for their first meeting on the drafting of the performance plan
Mayo are set to return to training on December 7.
Tuohy thanked the Mayo senior footballers and their management team for participating in the review.
No questions were asked by delegates following Tuohy’s remarks.
