FERGAL Boland will not be a part of the match-day squad for Mayo’s championship meeting with Derry after an appeal to his two-game suspension was unsuccessful.
The Aghamore man missed Mayo's last championship game against Dublin as a result of a two-game suspension he incurred after receiving a straight red card against Roscommon in the previous around.
The appeal against his suspension was heard by the GAA's Central Appeals Committee yesterday (Friday).
Mayo manager Kevin McStay has named an unchanged game to start this evening's All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final against Derry, which throws in in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park at 6.30pm.
The Mayo team to start against Derry is as follows: Colm Reape; Jack Coyne, David McBrien, Donnacha McHugh; Rory Brickenden, Sam Callinan, Eoghan McLaughlin; Stephen Coen, Matthew Ruane; Tommy Conroy, Darren McHale, Jordan Flynn; Aidan O'Shea, Jack Carney, Ryan O'Donoghue
