Mayo will have a home venue for their Division 3A Final against either Sligo or Cavan. This was confirmed by Connacht GAA CCEO, John Prenty, yesterday. The game will be played on Saturday or Sunday, March 30 or 31. It is expected that the match will be fixed for MacHale Park, Castlebar.
Ray Larkin, joint manager of the Mayo hurling team, expressed satisfaction that they had got over the line in a keenly contested game against Sligo at Kent Park on Saturday. “We had to dig deep to get this result after Sligo got off to a flying start in the difficult weather conditions. We set out to reach the final and are happy to be there now.
“We still have loads to work on ahead of that game and our first round championship game against Monaghan in the Nicky Rackard Cup in early April. We will have Adrian Phillips back for the league final as well.
“We feel we are in a good place at this stage. Sligo played some very good hurling on Saturday and are a strong side right now. If they get over Cavan this weekend, we should be in for a fine game at a Mayo venue the week after. Our lads are back in training this Tuesday night and they are all looking forward to the final.”
