Mayo is the place to be this June Bank Holiday weekend, with a packed lineup of festivals, live music, family fun, and cultural events taking place across the county.

From May 29 to June 1, Westport will come alive with the Mayo Pride Festival. Highlights include a performance by drag queen Panti Bliss at The Mariner on Friday night at 9:00 pm, the colourful Pride Parade at The Fairgreen on Saturday, and the Cosmic Wetness Soundbath at Westport Quay on Sunday.

Music fans can head to Castlebar on Saturday, May 30, where The Whistlin’ Donkeys will take to the stage at the TF Royal Theatre from 8:00 pm, bringing their signature blend of traditional Irish music and rock.

Families can enjoy a prehistoric adventure in Swinford on Saturday evening, as the Jurassic Takeover Exhibition arrives at The Cultural Centre from 5:30 pm, featuring life-like moving dinosaurs and interactive entertainment.

Equestrian enthusiasts are also in for a treat, with the much-anticipated Westport Horse and Pony Show taking place at Knockranny House from Sunday, May 31, to Monday, June 1. The event promises top-class competitions, showing classes, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment.

Meanwhile, Turlough House will host a creative painting workshop for children aged 8–12 and their guardians on Saturday, May 30. Inspired by the museum’s bee exhibition and the Alaskan brown bear, the sessions will run from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and again from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
