CLLR Damien Ryan has been re-elected to Mayo County Council.
The Ballinrobe-based Fianna Fáil councillor was elected on the sixth count after receiving 173 transfers from eliminated Fianna Fáil candidate Stephen Nolan, pushing him over the quota of 1,954 to 2,116 votes.
Cllr Ryan was elected on the same count as Ballyhaunis-based Fine Gael candidate Alma Gallagher, who made history by becoming the first woman ever to be elected to the Claremorris Local Electoral Area.
