'Taken from his family way too soon' - Tributes pour in for Mayo father of two

Tributes have been pouring in for Michael Cogger, late of Carramore, Swinford, Co. Mayo. Michael passed away peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff of Galway Hospice, following a brave and determined battle with a rare, progressive illness on Monday, February 10.

Messages of condolences and memories of Michael have been posted on his rip.ie page from friends, acquaintances and former colleagues who Michael impacted over the course of his life.

A former colleague wrote: "I had the pleasure of many chats with him over the years in Medtronic, he was a lovely gentleman and taken from his family way too soon. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace."

Another person said: "I have many great memories of helping out with Michael on underage GAA teams a few years ago. We had some brilliant days out. He was a lovely man. May he rest in peace."

Another former colleague wrote: "A complete gentleman I enjoyed his company any time I worked with him. Honest, Decent and thoughtful, such a wonderful man. May Michael rest in peace."

Another person wrote: "Thinking of you all during this very difficult time. Michael was such a lovely guy and made me feel very welcome when I would visit. He will be greatly missed."

Michael Cogger is predeceased by his parents Eddie and Beatrice, and his infant son Michael. He is sadly missed by his heartbroken wife and best friend Mary, cherished father of Niamh and Brian, his brothers Eamon and Colm, sister Marie, brothers-in-law Micheál, Anthony and his wife Mary, nephews Shane, Eoghan and Paul, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Michael's Requiem Mass is taking place today at 12 noon in the Sacred Heart Church followed by burial in Cummer Cemetery.
