Mayo Gardaí seize vehicle after driver found with no licence, tax or NCT

The Mayo Roads Policing Unit of An Garda Síochána had to seize a vehicle due to multiple infringements.

A high-visibility checkpoint took place on The N17 near Kilkelly with the assistance of the Road Safety Authority when Mayo Roads policing stopped this vehicle.

A check on the Insurance database using Active Mobility technology showed:

  • Vehicle had no Insurance
  • Driver had no valid driving licence
  • No Motor Tax (Expired over three years)
  • No NCT
  • Vehicle seized. Court proceedings to follow

An Garda Síochána inform the public: The Christmas period is one of the busiest on Irish roads.

It is also one of the periods during which road users are at the highest risk of being involved in a fatal or serious road traffic collision.

Gardaí will continue to have an increased presence day and night, conducting checkpoints and enforcing against drink and drug driving, speeding, mobile phone use and non-wearing of seatbelts.

Please put safety first and help prevent further tragedy on our roads.
