Niamh Kinsella, who plays for Claremorris LGFA, and her sisters have sent a heartfelt thank you message. The three were seriously injured in a controversial and high-profile crash on the M9 over two months ago where five teenagers were killed

The three sisters from Carlow who were critically injured in the horror M9 crash last month have shared a recovery update through their GoFundMe page.

The fundraiser, launched by their friend, Bryan Curley, has raised over €834,000 with over 26,000 donations since it’s launch last month.

Alma, Niamh and Ella, aged in their 20s and 30s, and Alma’s son Yemi aged 7 were critically injured when a BMW travelling in the wrong direction on the M9 crashed into them in Moone, Co Kildare.

The three sisters have shared a message on the GoFundMe page:

A heartfelt thank you from Ella, Niamh, and Alma

As we look back on everything that has happened over the past few months, it’s difficult to find the words to express just how grateful we are.

Throughout this journey, we have been reminded of the incredible kindness and compassion that exists in the world. The love and support we have received from so many people has meant more to us than words could ever express.

To everyone who has donated, sent messages, offered well wishes, kept us in your thoughts and prayers, or reached out to show their support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The generosity shown by people in our own community, across Ireland and further afield has been truly overwhelming.

A very special thank you to our family, friends and everyone who has stood by our side throughout this journey. Your kindness, love and encouragement have meant so much to us, and we will never forget

The incredible generosity you have shown has provided our family with practical support, comfort and reassurance for the future. Knowing that so many people care about us has meant more than words can express.

From all of us, thank you for your generosity, your prayers, your well wishes and for helping us through one of the most difficult chapters of our lives.

We will never forget your kindness and support, and we will be forever grateful.

With all our love and heartfelt gratitude,

Ella, Niamh and Alma

The horror crash on the M9

The family were travelling to Dublin airport for an early morning flight to England to attend a family wedding when they were involved in a head on collision, in which the 5 teenagers driving the BMW were killed.

In their initial GoFundMe statement the sisters shared that they wanted to thank people for the “overwhelming” kindness and generosity.

“We are continuing to take things one day at a time and are getting stronger as the days go by,” the statement said.

“The past few weeks have been incredibly difficult for all of us, but the support we've received from so many people has meant more than we could ever put into words.”

They continued to thank everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser, sent a message or kept them in their thoughts and prayers.”

Niamh Kinsella plays Gaelic football for Claremorris LGFA. The club stated after the tragic accident:

“Since joining the club Niamh slotted in seamlessly and is a valued member of the club and a brilliant team mate. We’re sending all our love, strength and support to them at this incredibly difficult time and in the days and weeks ahead. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
