RIP: 'Such a lovely lady' -Mayo community mourns passing of respected figure

MARY Walsh (nee Murphy) Annfield, Hollymount, Mayo, RIP

MARY Walsh (nee Murphy) Annfield, Hollymount, Mayo, who died recently in the kind care of the staff at Mayo Hospice in Castlebar, was a member of a well known and highly regarded family in the region.

She was affectionately known to many neighbours as Baby and was a daughter of the late Martin and Mary Delia Murphy of Farmhill, Claremorris.

Mary was blessed with a gentle and kind nature that was always to the fore during her long life. She undertook the daily life chores with a sense of dedication and devotion and always with gratitude for having the health to do so.

She cherished the simple things in life and the traditions that she held close to her heart along that journey.

Friends and neighbours joined in the gracious tributes. Brian and Margaret Healy from Farmhill said Baby was a grand lady who never forgot her beloved Farmhill.

Colette Corcoran said she was a lovely lady and a wonderful neighbour. Trish Forde from Newbrook said Mary was “such a gentle lady, always so friendly and a lovely person.”

Pamela Finn and Rita Walsh remembered Mary was a “lovely lady who always had a friendly smile when you met her.”

Reposing was at Roundfort Community Funeral Home interment took place in Roundfort cemetery following Requiem Mass in Roundfort Church.

Mary, who was predeceased by her husband Gerald, brothers Paddy-Joe, Michael, Martin and Gerry, and son-in-law Joe McDonagh, will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters, Bernie Chinnock (Somerset), Trish O'Brien (Newtownforbes), Denise McDonagh, Pat Walsh (Claremorris), Martin Walsh, Elaine Lenihan (Claremorris) and John Walsh (Ballinrobe), her brothers Johnny and Peter Murphy, sons-in-law Finian, Glenn and Brian, daughters-in-law Pauline, Olive and Fiona, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, neighbours and friends.
