RIP: Birmingham expat and taxi driver fondly remembered upon Mayo passing

Michael Cleary, Farmhill, Claremorris, Mayo RIP

THE death took place in the kind care of the staff at the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar of Michael Cleary,
Farmhill, Claremorris, and formerly of Birmingham.

The family moved back to Farmhill some years ago and Michael quickly settled into life here in Mayo.

He provided a popular taxi service in the region and quickly became known to many around the district.

Michael had an easy rapport with people and was courteous and helpful at all times. He always made time for people and his hearty laugh and warm sense of humour were always to the fore.

Many of his long-time friends from Birmingham were among those joining in the tributes to him. Michael was a staunch supporter of Birmingham City down through the years and attended many of the ‘Blues’ home and away matches.

Reposing was at St Colman’s Funeral Home, Claremorris, on Thursday evening with removal from his
residence on Friday morning for the funeral Mass in Crossboyne Church. Interment took place afterwards in the local cemetery.

Michael, who was predeceased by his parents Peter and Elizabeth and his sister Kathy, will be sadly
missed by his wife Margaret, daughter Emily and her partner John, granddaughter Lisa Mae, sister
Caroline, mother-in-law Mary and father-in-law William, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
