The event is being held by Macra na Feirme, an organisation for young people in rural areas. Mr O’Rourke is an active member of the Claremorris branch of Macra and has a keen interest in cars, jiving, and country music.

The young man, aged 20, was selected due to his charismatic personality and ability to make anyone feel comfortable in his company.

All contestants in the competition will arrive at the Hoban Hotel in the Marble City on Saturday, April 25, where they will be put through their paces on stage by Aindriú DePaor from RTÉ 2FM.

Next on the agenda will be private interviews with judges, with Ireland’s ‘Mr Personality’ being crowned at midnight at a banquet. Irish band The Fogues will be supplying the music, with a DJ playing into the night.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on EventBrite through the link here. Early bird tickets are available for a discounted rate up until Friday, April 11.
