Christmas lights in Westport in recent years
The Westport LipSync extravaganza, ‘Covies Do Covers’, will take place in The Knockranny House Hotel towards the end of November. The exact date will be confirmed.
Clubs and organisations in Westport are being encouraged to sign up before the limited number of spaces are taken.

There is a €500 registration fee after which, the participating clubs and organisations are free to fundraise for themselves. Groups will have many options to raise funds, including online promotions and the sale of votes on-the-night.
A number of groups have already expressed an interest in taking part and there will be a limit of ten groups in total.
Westport Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, both as a fundraiser for the Christmas lights, as well as shining a light on the funding shortfall for the festive bulbs.
There has so far been €15,000 raised towards the €50,000 target. The Chamber will make a decision in the next three weeks as to what next steps to take should the funding shortfall continue.
“There’s nothing more appealing than bringing your community closer with musical entertainment and a chance to support your organisation’s impact. Make the most of this opportunity by implementing these ideas into your ‘Covies do Covers’ contest,” Dermott Langan, President of the Westport Chamber of Commerce, told The Mayo News.
The performers on the night will benefit from Professional Stage Production, PA, AV, Lighting, Large Screen, Event Producer, Help with Choreography, Make-up and Marketing – Huge Social Media Programme.

Each community group will receive 5 complimentary tickets to the Gala Show.
