Mayo skatepark to close as major Phase 2 expansion gets underway

Seven-week construction project at Lough Lannagh begins on June 15, with existing skatepark closed for duration of works
Mayo County Council has confirmed works on the second phase of the skatepark development at Lough Lannagh are set to commence on Monday, June 15.
The long-awaited Phase 2 extension project will see further improvements and expansion of the facilities available at Lough Lannagh and build on the success of the existing skatepark, which has become a popular destination for skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX users from across Mayo.
Construction is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete. During this period, the existing Phase 1 skatepark will be fully closed to the public to allow works to be carried out safely.
Mayo County Council has advised users that while the skatepark itself will be inaccessible throughout the construction period, the footpath located to the rear of the site and all surrounding access roads will remain open and operational.
The construction area will be securely fenced off for the duration of the project to ensure public safety.
The council has asked members of the public to respect all safety signage and fencing while works are underway.
